Salisbury Steak with Caramelized Onion Gravy

Salisbury Steak with Caramelized Onion Gravy

This just look amazing. I love Salisbury Steak and I don't have a good recipe for it until now. My husband always asks me to buy him the frozen Hungry Man Salisbury Steak meals and I think those are the nastiest things ever created. I have been on the look out for a great Salisbury Steak recipe so now I am super excited to make this dish for him. I found this recipe on One Perfect Bite.  Great comments, and some really good looking recipes. Enjoy!

Salisbury Steak with Caramelized Onion Gravy...from the kitchen of One Perfect Bite

Just wanted to share this great recipe with you. Hope you are having a wonderful day and enjoying the warm weather. It is cloudy here in Wyoming today but it is warm and the kids are out playing in the dirt. Yay for them!

  9. I made this last week. My husband and daughter loved it! My daughter mostly hates meat, so it was especially great. The onion gravy is delicious on it's own.

  10. I made it last week with a few tweaks. I used lean ground turkey and brown rice and egg beaters instead of the yolk. Amazing! All 6 of us loved it and I am making it again for dinner tomorrow :)

  22. Thank you so much. I am tired of clicking on pins for recipes for this only to find the main ingredient for the sauce is a tin of creamed soup (usually mushroom). Such a let-down !!

So glad to find a proper recipe which looks and sounds delicious.

  23. I added 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar and some brown sugar to balance the acidity and... I love it ;-)

Not intended to mess up with your lovely recipe, just that I like a bit of sour & sweet in my sauce :-)

    Thanks for sharing :-)

  27. I just made this. The only thing I did differently was add about a tablespoon of our cream to cut the tartness of the gravy. Other than that....absolutely awesome recipe...and no cream of anything soup!

  30. I made this on Sunday for my family. The gravy tasted phenomenal, but for some reason mine didn't get as thick as I expected. Maybe because I skipped the red wine step?
Anyway, the flavoring for the patties was also great, but I am not a fan of the rice in the mixture. I figured it would be masked by the meat. But it stood out quite obviously. I love rice so it's not the flavor of the rice that bothered me.
I will definitely try the gravy again. Possibly the patties with a sub for the rice.
    Thanks for sharing!
Also, my four patties were pretty thick, maybe I can stretch it to 6 next time, especially for my small kids.
