Mini Post - Pepperoni Pizza Rolls

I love these quick, easy and convenient roll recipes that have a filling of some source that creates a small meal. I just recently posted Meatball Bubble Biscuits that are the same concept just different. Think of all the creative ideas you could try now that you have seen two different ideas! We are big Pepperoni lovers in this house so this one is a huge hit!

Serve with a nice side a Marinara Sauce and a nice Italian salad.

Just wanted to share a quick Mini Post with you!

    1. What do you mean by "Italian" herbs

      Delete
    2. "Italian Seasoning" most likely. It's usually sold on the bottom shelf of most stores as a "value item. for about .50 cents " Wicked useful product.

  3. A little more info would be helpful...flatten out the biscuit - how much cheese - Parmesan inside or out? What temp to bake at - how long to bake ? Is sauce only for dipping, or do you add that inside as well?

    4. The egg helps the bread give it that awesome brown glow that you see instead of a pale white or brunt look. Sometimes, you might of heard of putting an egg wash on bread or pie crust before baking it. Just makes it look pretty and keep it really really nice when you bite into it..yummy.... <3

I made some chicken, corn, onions, tomatoes and black beans with taco seasoning and put that inside with cheese, then just made the rest of the recipe as directed (except I replaced the egg with olive oil and omitted the italian seasonings) and it worked out great!

  17. We just had these tonight and they were fantastic!! Just a quick (and probably silly) question. It looks like you flipped them upside down once the edges were gathered in the picture, when you do that it doesn't spill all out?...I left mine edges up and they were still great but they opened a little. Also, I sprinkled a little mozzarella inside which was yummy : )

    ReplyDelete
  18. If you pinch them together they shouldn't fall out but even if it opened a bit it still should cook together with the cheese to hold it in. I love cheese! Glad you liked it!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Tried these for dinner tonight & they were a big hit. Next time I'll try variations as suggested above. Thanks for a yummy & fun recipe!

    1. You should also try sloppy joe mix inside flacky biscuit dough its like a sloppy joe pocket so good and so less messy :) you take a flacky biscuit flatten it and put your sloppy joe mix on one side put some cheese on top then fold the top over and pinch the sides together and back for like 16 min on whatever the temp on the package of biscuits say :)

    1. My oven cooked them very fast at 425 degrees. Luckily the insides were cooked through when I took them out at about 15 minutes. You may have to cook them at a lower temperature to make sure the insides are cooked through. I also used a metal baking sheet with parchment paper instead of the glass. I figured the glass will not heat up fast enough to cook at the same time as the top. Hope this helps.

  40. J. Bilczo, when you are done making them you can throw them in a freezer bag and then pop them in the microwave for about 30 seconds and then check them and see if they need more. Enjoy!

  42. Mine are in the oven now! they look amazing, but when i took them out at 20 min and tried to serve them, the sides and middles were all doughy. i put em back in for 5 and they were still really doughy. ive got em in for 10 more now, so we'll see if that works. im sure the tops are going to get pretty brown. im wondering if its just because im at a high altitude or something? either way, i hope theyre ready soon! i cant wait to try them!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I brought these to a party and they were a hit. I kept the seam side up when baking and they looked like cute little pouches!

    ReplyDelete
  44. saw them on pinterest and couldn't resist making them for lunch! i used jr grands biscuits and parmesean garlic sauce from bdubs instead of an egg wash and used pepperjack cheese in some and pepperoni and the shredded cheese in others. i baked them for ten minutes! incredibly delicious

  58. What a great recipe!! Can't wait to try it.

It makes me sad that people will come into someone else's "house" and treat each other the way they do. I don't allow my 2 and 6 year old to call people stupid or dumb, even if adults do. There is nothing wrong with asking questions...if you're "above" the question or can't answer it...ignore it. Just because the comment pops into your head, if it's hurtful...doesn't mean you need to share it.

  63. Has anyone tried freezing these for later? Like little snacks or individual dinners for kids? Just curious. :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi! I'm making these right now and they are in the oven - I used Pillsbury dinner roll dough and turkey pepperoni instead of regular. Also, I cut each cheese piece into two smaller pieces, and layered it cheese, pepperoni, cheese, pepperoni inside the dough. They smell SO good and I can't wait to eat them! Great recipe!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. is the pizza sauce just for dipping? has anyone tried putting a little sauce on the dough first?

  70. Anonymous, if you buy (3) 8 pack buttermilk grands biscuits, (2)packs amour pepperoni (about 60 pieces) and a 16 oz block of colby jack cheese (14 long slices and then half them) it will work out perfect. You will have some extra cheese and pepperoni but you will that 24 perfect biscuits.

  71. I was hoping to see a response to the person asking if they could put some sauce inside. I'm making them tomorrow for a pool party. They look so good and I'm sure the kids will love them.

  77. This will be the second time that I have made these. My kids love them. What I do different is I roll them in butter and place them in my bundt pan and then sprinkle with a rosemary garlic seasoning. They bake up so yummy. Thank you for the post.

  78. These worked out so well. Saw it on Pinterest, went and bought ingredients, and made them as soon as I got home. Served with some sliced up veggies, and it filled me right up. My dad ate 4 whole pizza bites :) My mom loved them too!! Definately making these again!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Love this although they burned on the bottom because the rack was to low, it only took about 12 minutes to cook any longer and the top would have burned.BUT there were allot of ideas going around, like using a meatball,or peanut butter and jelly.Im sure there are a billion ways to do this and Im gunna try them lol.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I absolutely loved them! the only difference I made was that I bakes them without the egg and just brushed butter on top and then added the cheese. I work at Texas Roadhouse, so I was able to use the dough that we use for the rolls. It was so wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I tried making these and I would say they were semi successful. I plan to make them again with a few adjustments. I decided I did not fancy the buttermilk biscuits, I found the flavor of them to be slightly off for pizza and had an issue with them remaining doughy. Also, I thought the dough to filling ratio was not quite right. Too much dough not enough gooey filling. I plan to get a roll of the Pillsbury dough sheet (basically crescent rolls with out the cuts) and slice into squares. The only other thing I'm going to change is waiting until half way through the baking time to brush on the egg as mine browned too much on the top. This is a fabulous idea though, and once I've perfected it for our tastes I think it will be a regular meal for us.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Would love to see a marinara sauce recipe if you have one! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Has anyone tried these with pizza sauce on the inside?

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'm going to try to use pizza dough instead of the pillsbury biscuit stuff. But what about cooking them in muffin tins? Even the mini muffin tins? Anyone try that? You might have to adjust your cooking time though. I'll be making these this weekend. And I saw a post earlier with no response, but has anyone tried these with the sauce inside?

    ReplyDelete
  85. I just made these with pillsbury pizza dough and they turned out great. It made around 20, which is just the right amount for my husband and I. The pizza dough was easy to roll out and I cut them into squares. I also used string cheese and just cut it into quarters. I added grated parm to the top and they looked and tasted wonderful. Great recipe, thanks so much for posting. My husband thanks you also :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. I have made a different version of these and I put the sauce on the inside. They turned out very yummy, but definitely messy to put together. It would probably be easier to assemble without the sauce inside, but it works either way.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I just made these recently and everyone loved them! It was super easy and super quick! They were also just as great leftover! I popped them in the microwave for a few seconds and it was as good as new! I will definitely keep this recipe around for the future

    ReplyDelete
  88. Not a fan of colby, I might try using mozzarella though...sounds great :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. I made them tonight and my kids loved them!! The store I bought my biscuits was out of the "Buttermilk" style so I bought the "Butter" ones and it still turned out great. My question though is what size dish did you use? Mine was a 9x13 and I couldn't get as many in as you did. First time making them and I'm hooked!

    ReplyDelete
  90. mmmm! definitely going to try this recipe out, looks delicious! Thanks for sharing!

  92. just made these tonight. we're not big meat eaters so we used cheese, freshly sliced tomatoes, and pesto in ours. i also brushed a bit of olive oil on the top instead of egg. yum!

    1. Of course, I can't speak for anyone but myself, but it seems like if the sauce is used on the inside, the dough would become soggy during the baking process... Of course, this is just me speculating...

  100. I have these in the oven now. Very excited to see how they turn out, they look really yummy! I did use the grands buttermilks, so mine might be a little bread overkill, but we love bread. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  101. How did you flatten the dough? I don't have a rolling pin D:

    ReplyDelete
  102. I flatened them out with my fingers! And I used pepperjack cheese! It was awesome! But I should have taken them out at least 4 minutes sooner, my bottoms were a little burned, but we cut the bottoms off and they were awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I don't usually comment on blogs, but had to come back and tell you how awesome these were. I used shredded mozzarella and a basic homemade biscuit recipe instead of the canned biscuits. They were so good and easy! My kids love them.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I thought these looked amazing, so I tried them immediately. I followed the recipe to a T, but used mozzarella instead. But when the time was up the dough was still very gooey...I ended up backing them for another 40 minutes and they got too brown yet still gooey on the sides. Am I doing something wrong? My boyfriend really liked the idea and ate them anyways without complaint lol but I just want them to be perfectly soft just not gooey..

    ReplyDelete
  105. Just finished having these an appetizer! DELICIOUS! I didn't have any eggs so I just spread the biscuits with melted butter. I used pepperjack velveeta and it was amazing. Thanks for the great share!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Oh my goodness. I love these. Thank u for the receipt.

  107. Any suggestions on what could be used as a side for this or what could this be used as a side for? (And not salad, my family's not a fan).

    ReplyDelete
  108. I made these tonight with the boys and they had fun making them and they tasted great! I didn't buy the block cheese but used the Kraft mozzarella with the Philadelphia cream cheese. Not sure if it made any difference but like I mentioned, they tasted great!

  110. Dori, Having just "hitting" upon your story, just want to say God bless you and your family. Having grown up in an appalachian area of W.VA I have seen my share of "hard times" but now am very blessed that I cannot count all my blessings. A source of strength to me is from Psalms 46:1: "GOD is our Refuge and Strength. an ever-present help in trouble. Take care and since I don't facebook, etc. will pray for many "riches" to come your way.

  111. can leftovers be frozen like the breakfast bubble biscuits?

    ReplyDelete
  112. I'm not sure if anyone has asked this BUT, I was wondering since you used biscuits...How did you get them so flat Dori?

    ReplyDelete
  113. I am going to try this recipe with pepperoni and mozzarella, as my son prefers "pizza cheese." I thought I was the only mom who ever thought of this. Last week I pushed some Grands into muffin tin holes and added cheddar and some kind of meat (can't even remember what!) and they came out like biscuit-muffins. Fun! Some of the insides leaked upward and got crispy. But next time I will add more in the middle. I think Dori's will be better still, because I can give them more Insides. Can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  114. What a fun recipe (and yes, I read ALL the directions!). I think they should be called Pizza Sliders and my 10 year old is all excited about making them for our next family dinner. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  115. My Mom on accident got 2 cans of buttermilk and one flaky. Will that work all right?

    ReplyDelete
  116. I actually bought a can of the butter biscuits by mistake and liked them better than the buttermilk. I used a dab of double concentrate tomato puree in the filling, along with a couple slices of mushroom. As long as you don't make these too overfull, they work out. Next time I will add more garlic and seasonings. Or maybe serve it with some olive oil and spices. The family loved this so much that we may have these instead of pizza delivery.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I have the layer biscuits will that work?

    ReplyDelete
  118. I am looking for "no mess no fuss" meal and snack ideas I can take camping for my kids. Can you possibly freeze these after baking? I'm wondering if these would work pre cooked, froze, then heated up over a camp fire grate?

  120. Hi Dori,
I don't see a way to contact you via email. I need to ask that you please take my recipe down and link to my website instead. This was posted on my website on March 8, 2011. I am delighted that you like the recipe but I'm sure that you understand that this recipe took time and effort for me to make, photograph and post.
    Thank you,
    Tonia from The Gunny Sack

  121. Hi Tonia,

This was one of my first posts long long ago and I didn't realize I had your recipe up. I just took the recipe down and put click here so they have to go to your site to get the recipe. Pillsbury contacted me to publish this on their site but I sent them to you and told them it was yours and they posted yours. It is a brilliant recipe. Let me know if this is ok this way and if it isn't I will take it down.

  122. After I saw this post I decided I had to make these pizza rolls, just before the kids get home from school so they have a great little snack. I love baking and usually share what I make with friends and co-workers so a regular batch does not last long. These mini batches though are perfect for a quick craving. I love your blog by the way.

  126. I was cured of HERPES with the use of natural herbs. I love herbs so much. Most times, injections and drugs are just a waste of time. I was cured 8months ago, i suffered from Herpes for 2 years but with the help of Priest Babaka herbal medicine, I was cured within a few weeks of drinking the herbs He sent to me through courier delivery service. This same Priest also cured my Aunt from INFERTILITY, as soon as I heard she Been finding it difficult to CONCEIVE, i referred her to the Priest and she was cured after drinking his herbs. I have referred more than 15 persons and they were all cured from their various illness. Have you taken herbs before?. You have spent so much money on drugs, injections, surgeries etc and yet you have no good result to show for it. Priest Babaka is a Herbalist and a Spiritualist , I assure you of a cure if you drink his natural herbs and follow his Guidance. He has herbs that cures HIV, Herpes, Diabetics, Asthma, Hepatitis, etc. Contact Priest Babaka on email: babaka.wolf@gmail.com or Facebook at priest.babaka
