Mini Post - Pepperoni Pizza Rolls
I love these quick, easy and convenient roll recipes that have a filling of some source that creates a small meal. I just recently posted Meatball Bubble Biscuits that are the same concept just different. Think of all the creative ideas you could try now that you have seen two different ideas! We are big Pepperoni lovers in this house so this one is a huge hit!

Just wanted to share a quick Mini Post with you!
Thanks for stopping by!
Dori
what did you use as the dough
ReplyDeleteAmy
Pillsbury biscuit dough
DeleteHi Amy, it is Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by "Italian" herbs
Delete"Italian Seasoning" most likely. It's usually sold on the bottom shelf of most stores as a "value item. for about .50 cents " Wicked useful product.
DeleteA little more info would be helpful...flatten out the biscuit - how much cheese - Parmesan inside or out? What temp to bake at - how long to bake ? Is sauce only for dipping, or do you add that inside as well?
ReplyDeleteDid you even read what she wrote?? It tells you the answer to all your questions.
DeleteThere are even photos
DeleteHello! What is the egg for? How long to you bake them and at what temp?
ReplyDeleteYou're just stupid - read the above recipe idiot!!
Deletec'mon man, don't ever call someone stupid.. that's just plain rude
DeleteI sure hope you're kinder to people in person than you are online. That (stupid comment) was completely uncalled for.
DeleteThe egg helps the bread give it that awesome brown glow that you see instead of a pale white or brunt look. Sometimes, you might of heard of putting an egg wash on bread or pie crust before baking it. Just makes it look pretty and keep it really really nice when you bite into it..yummy.... <3
DeleteAnd don't someone an idiot either. Did you mom ever teach you manners? Or is this a lost art in today's world?
DeleteI agree no need to be rude what purpose to make someone feel inadequate I'm sorry myself they did that being nice is so much more fun hey treat others the way you want to be treated! ! Try it!
DeleteAnonymous, I updated the page with some more information for you. The egg is just to brush on the top give it a gold brown and the sauce is for dipping. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't people read....look at the recipe, your questions will be answered!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY!!! I was just thinking the same thing. If that is how they read maybe they should just stay out of the kitchen. LOL
DeleteJust chill Anonymous... Life is too short to be stressed...
DeleteLife is too short to ask dumb questions and waste your time!
DeleteWow... You're a very angry person. Seriously, no need to put people down.
DeleteLol you're getting angry over pizza roll recipe comments. :P Some questions may be unnecessary so leave those to the blogger to answer/or not answer, why do you care so much and make unnecessary comments yourself? Go make a pizza roll and relax.
DeleteHave you people ever thought that maybe those posters asking the questions asked before the blog author had a chance to edit. We have no idea what the original post said. Check out the dates/times posted.
Deletelooks great...going to make these really soon!
ReplyDeleteYay! let me know how you like them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCan you use sausage instead of Pepperoni slices? My kids do not like pepperoni, but they love sausage.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!
You can alter this recipe to hold anything! I made some chicken, corn, onions, tomatoes and black beans with taco seasoning and put that inside with cheese, then just made the rest of the recipe as directed (except I replaced the egg with olive oil and omitted the italian seasonings) and it worked out great!
DeleteSounds delicious and easy! Thanks very much, will try out this weekend.
ReplyDeleteSounds delish !! think I'm gonna make these tonight just for snacks..Thanks
ReplyDeleteThese are in the oven now... I'll post soon how they came out :) thanks for the recipe
ReplyDeleteThese look awesome! Much better and I bet cheaper then the "frozen" brand!
ReplyDeletep.s. People should always read read the recipe through - to the end before asking silly questions......
When I first saw this the recipe did not appear either....I would have asked the same questions if I didn't wait a day.
DeleteJust made these for my kids... THEY Loved them!! I did some pepperoni and some Canadian bacon. I will try with hamburger or sausage next time! THANKS for the great idea!!
ReplyDeleteWhy are some of you people asking questions that are answered for you already? Can you not read?
ReplyDeleteWhy are you so rude?
Deletewhy dose anyone care your just on this site to make pizza rolls right!?
Deletep.s. you still could be a little nicer though
They can read, if YOU read the comments above you.. Dori didnt have the info AND THEN she updated it..So Can you not read?
ReplyDeleteGreat Recipe!
We just had these tonight and they were fantastic!! Just a quick (and probably silly) question. It looks like you flipped them upside down once the edges were gathered in the picture, when you do that it doesn't spill all out?...I left mine edges up and they were still great but they opened a little. Also, I sprinkled a little mozzarella inside which was yummy : )
ReplyDeleteIf you pinch them together they shouldn't fall out but even if it opened a bit it still should cook together with the cheese to hold it in. I love cheese! Glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteTried these for dinner tonight & they were a big hit. Next time I'll try variations as suggested above. Thanks for a yummy & fun recipe!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear they were a hit. My kids go crazy for them. I am also trying other variations. See my blog in the morning tomorrow to see a new one. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI found this on Pinterest and tried if for dinner tonight. AMAZING! I have tried other refridgerator biscuit pizza recipes and this is by far the best. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou should also try sloppy joe mix inside flacky biscuit dough its like a sloppy joe pocket so good and so less messy :) you take a flacky biscuit flatten it and put your sloppy joe mix on one side put some cheese on top then fold the top over and pinch the sides together and back for like 16 min on whatever the temp on the package of biscuits say :)
DeleteHas anyone tried this with pizza dough?
ReplyDeleteYes. They were great! My family loves them!
DeleteMine turned out doughy even though the top of them were VERY brown. Kept them in for 26 minutes and still doughy. What did I do wrong????
ReplyDeleteMy oven cooked them very fast at 425 degrees. Luckily the insides were cooked through when I took them out at about 15 minutes. You may have to cook them at a lower temperature to make sure the insides are cooked through. I also used a metal baking sheet with parchment paper instead of the glass. I figured the glass will not heat up fast enough to cook at the same time as the top. Hope this helps.
DeleteThanks for sharing!! This will be a "go to" in our house!
ReplyDeleteMaking these now...my own pizza dough + your recipe/pictures = super easy dinner for my kids. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteThese came out perfect - baked for 15 minutes. Was hoping to have some leftover for tomorrow...no chance, we ate them all! :)
DeleteGood Job, Dori
ReplyDeletehave you tried with any other type of cheese like mozzarella?? My daughter makes these with pillsbury pizza dough and doesn't use cheese but I like cheese.
ReplyDeleteJust made these! Amazing!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove to hear it! Thanks for letting us know!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh I can't wait to try this. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI found this on Pinterest also...such a great quick idea..
ReplyDeleteDon't have time to read all the comments so........Can you get them all ready and freeze them?
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!!!!!!!!
These are AWESOME! My kids love them and they're so easy to make! Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing recipe. Cheap, fast, easy, and delicious!!
ReplyDeleteI precooked the pepperoni a bit (I prefer crispy pepperoni) before stuffing the dough balls and used shredded cheese instead of a block. Awesome recipe, the kids loved them.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to make these for my day care kiddos lunch. They'll love them!!
ReplyDeletePrecooking the Pepperoni is a great idea. I am going to try that today since I am making them for lunch. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMama in Montana, your day care kids are going to LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteI used the jumbo grands biscuits which took a little bit longer to cook (23 mins):( but they were so delicious ! Thank you so much for this recipe.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to know how and when to freeze them. I have a party coming up, and I would like to make these days ahead of time. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteJ. Bilczo, when you are done making them you can throw them in a freezer bag and then pop them in the microwave for about 30 seconds and then check them and see if they need more. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThese were so incredibly yummy!!!!
ReplyDeleteMine are in the oven now! they look amazing, but when i took them out at 20 min and tried to serve them, the sides and middles were all doughy. i put em back in for 5 and they were still really doughy. ive got em in for 10 more now, so we'll see if that works. im sure the tops are going to get pretty brown. im wondering if its just because im at a high altitude or something? either way, i hope theyre ready soon! i cant wait to try them!
ReplyDeleteI brought these to a party and they were a hit. I kept the seam side up when baking and they looked like cute little pouches!
ReplyDeletesaw them on pinterest and couldn't resist making them for lunch! i used jr grands biscuits and parmesean garlic sauce from bdubs instead of an egg wash and used pepperjack cheese in some and pepperoni and the shredded cheese in others. i baked them for ten minutes! incredibly delicious
ReplyDeleteLove this idea, and I know the kids will munch them down! Going to try this one real soon! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah this is gonna be a life saver my boys will love these lol!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy 11 year old niece and I made these today. I do not eat meat, so I made mine with just cheese. I think she loved helping make them as much as she loved eating them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting such a fun/easy recipe!
I'm planning on making these to take to work tomorrow...but I was wondering if I can make them tonight and just bake them in the morning?? Does anyone know?
ReplyDeleteI'm putting this on my weekly menu. Do you mind if I share it on my blog? Credit will be given with a link back. Great idea! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThese are really good, I actually just got fine making them, also let my 3yr old help so simple & she lived helping mommy cook!! :)) will definitely make again!
ReplyDeleteWonder how these would be with eggs, cheese, and ham!!
ReplyDeleteYeah! Like putting scrambled eggs inside?
DeleteI just tried these and they were a huge hit with my family! and I have a couple of picky eaters. Only thing I did differently was I used a homemade teabicuit recipe. So Yummie!!!
ReplyDeleteMine are in the oven. I hope they come out as good as yours :) They look delicious :)
ReplyDeleteI'm making these for dinner tonight--I have the feeling they are going to be a HUGE hit with my family!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteLol.
DeleteThank you for a great recipe! I just tried this with my nieces and nephews. We used the grand biscuits, cooked bacon, and mozzarella cheese. I cooked them in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes and they were perfect.
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious! Thanks for sharing this recipe. I can hardly wait to try it out! Hurray for Pinterest!
ReplyDeletegoldenapplemom.com
What a great recipe!! Can't wait to try it.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me sad that people will come into someone else's "house" and treat each other the way they do. I don't allow my 2 and 6 year old to call people stupid or dumb, even if adults do. There is nothing wrong with asking questions...if you're "above" the question or can't answer it...ignore it. Just because the comment pops into your head, if it's hurtful...doesn't mean you need to share it.
Will be trying this soon. Just found it on Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteOh, this look reaaaaly delicious! I'll try this too
ReplyDeletethanks for this great receipe :) Anna
Just made this it is amazing....don't put it in for the whole 20 some came a lil browner than I liked
ReplyDeleteJust made these tonight for dinner, my husband loved them! We used low fat cheese and turkey pepperoni to make them a little more healthier! Will definitely make these again!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried freezing these for later? Like little snacks or individual dinners for kids? Just curious. :)
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm making these right now and they are in the oven - I used Pillsbury dinner roll dough and turkey pepperoni instead of regular. Also, I cut each cheese piece into two smaller pieces, and layered it cheese, pepperoni, cheese, pepperoni inside the dough. They smell SO good and I can't wait to eat them! Great recipe!! :)
ReplyDeleteis the pizza sauce just for dipping? has anyone tried putting a little sauce on the dough first?
ReplyDeleteHello! I made this for supper tonight...used the turkey pepperoni too. The entire family enjoyed these. I accompanied with a caesar salad with my own twist. Fantastic. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteHi Cass. I've never heard of turkey pepperoni. Is that something that is commonly found in the grocery stores? I'd love to try it
DeleteHi Summer Stewart, Yes you can find it next to the regular pepperoni. Kids can't tell the difference!
DeleteI prefer the turkey pepperoni! It's got a better taste to me and is not as greasy.
Delete30 biscuits, 28 blocks of cheese and 56 pepperoni slices...hum
ReplyDeleteI need to make this :)
ReplyDeleteThese look so yummy, I think I'll be taking them into our carry-in at work tomorrow! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI made these with my 8 year old niece. They were very quick and simple and everyone loved them. Thank you so much for the recipe.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, if you buy (3) 8 pack buttermilk grands biscuits, (2)packs amour pepperoni (about 60 pieces) and a 16 oz block of colby jack cheese (14 long slices and then half them) it will work out perfect. You will have some extra cheese and pepperoni but you will that 24 perfect biscuits.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see a response to the person asking if they could put some sauce inside. I'm making them tomorrow for a pool party. They look so good and I'm sure the kids will love them.
ReplyDeleteJust found these on pinterest a couple hours ago, ran out to buy the ingredients, and they're in the oven as I'm typing! They smell heavenly, can only imagine how great they'll taste! Thanks for sharing your recipe :-)
ReplyDeleteI found you through a Pinterest link and linked back to you on my blog! We tried the pizza balls tonight and they were a hit!
ReplyDeletemine are doughy after 28 mins... any tips? they smell wonderful!
ReplyDeleteturn the oven off and let them bake for a couple more minutes...they might start to look too brown on top but don't worry, they won't be burnt!
DeleteI don't run into too many DoriS. I've met 2 in my 47 years. I'm looking forward to trying this recipe. Thanks for posting. From one Dori to another : )
ReplyDeleteUse a metal cookie sheet and cook them seam down and use a rolling pin to evenly flatten the biscuit :-) Mine came out freakin delicious!
ReplyDeleteWonderful advise. Thanks!!
DeleteThis will be the second time that I have made these. My kids love them. What I do different is I roll them in butter and place them in my bundt pan and then sprinkle with a rosemary garlic seasoning. They bake up so yummy. Thank you for the post.
ReplyDeleteThese worked out so well. Saw it on Pinterest, went and bought ingredients, and made them as soon as I got home. Served with some sliced up veggies, and it filled me right up. My dad ate 4 whole pizza bites :) My mom loved them too!! Definately making these again!!
ReplyDeleteLove this although they burned on the bottom because the rack was to low, it only took about 12 minutes to cook any longer and the top would have burned.BUT there were allot of ideas going around, like using a meatball,or peanut butter and jelly.Im sure there are a billion ways to do this and Im gunna try them lol.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved them! the only difference I made was that I bakes them without the egg and just brushed butter on top and then added the cheese. I work at Texas Roadhouse, so I was able to use the dough that we use for the rolls. It was so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI tried making these and I would say they were semi successful. I plan to make them again with a few adjustments. I decided I did not fancy the buttermilk biscuits, I found the flavor of them to be slightly off for pizza and had an issue with them remaining doughy. Also, I thought the dough to filling ratio was not quite right. Too much dough not enough gooey filling. I plan to get a roll of the Pillsbury dough sheet (basically crescent rolls with out the cuts) and slice into squares. The only other thing I'm going to change is waiting until half way through the baking time to brush on the egg as mine browned too much on the top. This is a fabulous idea though, and once I've perfected it for our tastes I think it will be a regular meal for us.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see a marinara sauce recipe if you have one! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried these with pizza sauce on the inside?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to use pizza dough instead of the pillsbury biscuit stuff. But what about cooking them in muffin tins? Even the mini muffin tins? Anyone try that? You might have to adjust your cooking time though. I'll be making these this weekend. And I saw a post earlier with no response, but has anyone tried these with the sauce inside?
ReplyDeleteI just made these with pillsbury pizza dough and they turned out great. It made around 20, which is just the right amount for my husband and I. The pizza dough was easy to roll out and I cut them into squares. I also used string cheese and just cut it into quarters. I added grated parm to the top and they looked and tasted wonderful. Great recipe, thanks so much for posting. My husband thanks you also :)
ReplyDeleteI have made a different version of these and I put the sauce on the inside. They turned out very yummy, but definitely messy to put together. It would probably be easier to assemble without the sauce inside, but it works either way.
ReplyDeleteI just made these recently and everyone loved them! It was super easy and super quick! They were also just as great leftover! I popped them in the microwave for a few seconds and it was as good as new! I will definitely keep this recipe around for the future
ReplyDeleteDid you freeze or refrigerate the leftovers?
DeleteNot a fan of colby, I might try using mozzarella though...sounds great :)
ReplyDeleteI made them tonight and my kids loved them!! The store I bought my biscuits was out of the "Buttermilk" style so I bought the "Butter" ones and it still turned out great. My question though is what size dish did you use? Mine was a 9x13 and I couldn't get as many in as you did. First time making them and I'm hooked!
ReplyDeletemmmm! definitely going to try this recipe out, looks delicious! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTried this one today... After 20 mins in the oven the dough wasn't all the way cooked.. Any suggestions.
ReplyDeletelol my thoughts exactly!
Deletejust made these tonight. we're not big meat eaters so we used cheese, freshly sliced tomatoes, and pesto in ours. i also brushed a bit of olive oil on the top instead of egg. yum!
ReplyDeletemade these tonight! they were a HUGE success! thank you, we will be making these again (:
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting these! I made them as an easy make-ahead lunch, and it was a huge hit. My daughter and I prepared them together the night before, and then popped them in the oven the next day while I was busy with home preschool activities with my kids.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind that I shared this recipe and how I used it as an easy cooking with kids and make-ahead lunch at http://www.fantasticfunandlearning.com/pizza-balls-easy-make-ahead-lunch-to-cook-with-kids.html. Thanks again!
These are delicious and so easy to make! I made them last night and loved them! Thank you for the recipe :)
ReplyDeleteJust finish putting in the oven..... Tick tock tick.tock...... I used one can of the dough.to try it out..... As for the seasoning I have not a clue what Italian seasoning to used..... Hope.come out good took pic of before and will take pic once it.done...... Hope taste good....... How do I send you pic of the pizza biscuit.. This week will try the meatbal bubble biscuit ;)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited! I made my own dough out of the crescent roll recipe I found on pinterest and used pepperoni and mozzarella for filling. I can't wait until they come out of the oven!
ReplyDeleteThe best ... thank you so much for the recipe!
DeleteGreat sounding recipe!! Can I put a little dab of the pizza sauce INSIDE it before baking?? Going to a party and want them to be as efficient as possible, no need to worry about pizza sauce dip!!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I can't speak for anyone but myself, but it seems like if the sauce is used on the inside, the dough would become soggy during the baking process... Of course, this is just me speculating...
Deletewhen i made these the first time, i put a dab of pizza sauce and it came out very good! i just wouldnt get too messy with it.
DeleteThese. Look. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI think I've found a meal for sometime this week. :D
I can't wait to see what else you've shared.
I have these in the oven now. Very excited to see how they turn out, they look really yummy! I did use the grands buttermilks, so mine might be a little bread overkill, but we love bread. :-)
ReplyDeleteHow did you flatten the dough? I don't have a rolling pin D:
ReplyDeleteI flatened them out with my fingers! And I used pepperjack cheese! It was awesome! But I should have taken them out at least 4 minutes sooner, my bottoms were a little burned, but we cut the bottoms off and they were awesome!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually comment on blogs, but had to come back and tell you how awesome these were. I used shredded mozzarella and a basic homemade biscuit recipe instead of the canned biscuits. They were so good and easy! My kids love them.
ReplyDeleteI thought these looked amazing, so I tried them immediately. I followed the recipe to a T, but used mozzarella instead. But when the time was up the dough was still very gooey...I ended up backing them for another 40 minutes and they got too brown yet still gooey on the sides. Am I doing something wrong? My boyfriend really liked the idea and ate them anyways without complaint lol but I just want them to be perfectly soft just not gooey..
ReplyDeleteJust finished having these an appetizer! DELICIOUS! I didn't have any eggs so I just spread the biscuits with melted butter. I used pepperjack velveeta and it was amazing. Thanks for the great share!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I love these. Thank u for the receipt.
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions on what could be used as a side for this or what could this be used as a side for? (And not salad, my family's not a fan).
ReplyDeleteI made these tonight with the boys and they had fun making them and they tasted great! I didn't buy the block cheese but used the Kraft mozzarella with the Philadelphia cream cheese. Not sure if it made any difference but like I mentioned, they tasted great!
ReplyDeleteDebi Trumper you could pair it with a pasta dish
ReplyDeleteDori, Having just "hitting" upon your story, just want to say God bless you and your family. Having grown up in an appalachian area of W.VA I have seen my share of "hard times" but now am very blessed that I cannot count all my blessings. A source of strength to me is from Psalms 46:1: "GOD is our Refuge and Strength. an ever-present help in trouble. Take care and since I don't facebook, etc. will pray for many "riches" to come your way.
ReplyDeletecan leftovers be frozen like the breakfast bubble biscuits?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if anyone has asked this BUT, I was wondering since you used biscuits...How did you get them so flat Dori?
ReplyDeleteI am going to try this recipe with pepperoni and mozzarella, as my son prefers "pizza cheese." I thought I was the only mom who ever thought of this. Last week I pushed some Grands into muffin tin holes and added cheddar and some kind of meat (can't even remember what!) and they came out like biscuit-muffins. Fun! Some of the insides leaked upward and got crispy. But next time I will add more in the middle. I think Dori's will be better still, because I can give them more Insides. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun recipe (and yes, I read ALL the directions!). I think they should be called Pizza Sliders and my 10 year old is all excited about making them for our next family dinner. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom on accident got 2 cans of buttermilk and one flaky. Will that work all right?
ReplyDeleteI actually bought a can of the butter biscuits by mistake and liked them better than the buttermilk. I used a dab of double concentrate tomato puree in the filling, along with a couple slices of mushroom. As long as you don't make these too overfull, they work out. Next time I will add more garlic and seasonings. Or maybe serve it with some olive oil and spices. The family loved this so much that we may have these instead of pizza delivery.
ReplyDeleteI have the layer biscuits will that work?
ReplyDeleteI am looking for "no mess no fuss" meal and snack ideas I can take camping for my kids. Can you possibly freeze these after baking? I'm wondering if these would work pre cooked, froze, then heated up over a camp fire grate?
ReplyDeleteI did after all got another can of biscuits. We just finish eating them. I have a gas stove and it took way longer than 18-20 minutes. More like 30-35 min. SO I just wanted to let people know :) God Bless!
ReplyDeleteHi Dori,
ReplyDeleteI don't see a way to contact you via email. I need to ask that you please take my recipe down and link to my website instead. This was posted on my website on March 8, 2011. I am delighted that you like the recipe but I'm sure that you understand that this recipe took time and effort for me to make, photograph and post.
Thank you,
Tonia from The Gunny Sack
Hi Tonia,
ReplyDeleteThis was one of my first posts long long ago and I didn't realize I had your recipe up. I just took the recipe down and put click here so they have to go to your site to get the recipe. Pillsbury contacted me to publish this on their site but I sent them to you and told them it was yours and they posted yours. It is a brilliant recipe. Let me know if this is ok this way and if it isn't I will take it down.
So much Drama over a recipe WOW. Cooking de-stresses me but Reading all the peoples insults & petty discussions is just Dumb BS. & Tonia it may be ur recipe but Dori Has made it very popular A Thank u would of been a Good way to start. I'm sure she meant no harm.
DeleteAfter I saw this post I decided I had to make these pizza rolls, just before the kids get home from school so they have a great little snack. I love baking and usually share what I make with friends and co-workers so a regular batch does not last long. These mini batches though are perfect for a quick craving. I love your blog by the way.
