Steamed Shrimp and Broccoli with Rice Cooker and Steamer GIVEAWAY!

Steamed Shrimp and Broccoli over Rice
with a GIVEAWAY!

I have been craving Shrimp all week. I made it last weekend and have been craving it ever since. I wanted something healthier because I have been battling this flu bug all week and I am ready to get over it! So I was looking for something healthy with Shrimp.

My dear sister Jillee gave me an Amazon gift card for Christmas and one of the things that I ordered was an Aroma Rice Cooker. When it came in the mail I realized that it was also a Food Steamer! It has been sitting in the box since I got it and I thought this would be a perfect time to try it.

I love this thing!

I cooked two cups of rice, steamed Shrimp and Broccoli and it was awesome. The taste and texture were so much better and it just melts in your mouth. Food tastes amazing steamed. What a difference and it can't get much easier than throwing everything in and pushing a button.

Ingredients

Shrimp (You can use frozen, fresh, uncooked or cooked)
I put the shrimp in some olive oil with seasonings and garlic
Frozen or fresh broccoli
Rice

Directions

All you do with this fabulous product is wash the rice, add water, add shrimp and veggies and press a button. Done. It will stay warm until you are ready with the warm feature.

Classic Oreo Icebox Dessert

We have been dealing with colds in this house since the weekend. Can't imagine how that can happen when it is -28 degrees outside! Today we had a heat wave at got up to around 28 degrees with sunshine! It was very nice and felt so much warmer. I am tending to lots of little colds. I told everyone that when we all feel better I will make them this delicious dessert this weekend and how good it is going to taste when the cold is gone.

I found this recipe on The Kitchen is My Playground. Cute blog and lots of great recipes. It is an easy recipe, no baking and something everyone will love.

Cheddar Bacon Chicken Tenders

Cheddar Bacon Chicken Tenders

I will make this short and sweet tonight. I ran across this yummy picture on Betty Crocker. I have no doubt in my mind that kids will devour these. It is quick, easy and kid friendly. It is a basic recipe that you can add to with your own style. My family? I would add a salad with ranch and either fries or vegetables and most definitely use real bacon bits. I appreciate this simple and easy recipe that my kids will eat.

As most of you know it has been in the -20's here and I have a tiny tiny head cold that I am attacking with Essential Oils so it isn't so bad, but they do an amazing job at knocking it out quick. So, I am heading to bed at a decent hour tonight. Hope you are all doing well.

Cheesy Crunchy Homemade Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

Crunchy Cheesy Homemade Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

This cold weather we are having here in Wyoming is getting old! We will be in the -20 to-30's tonight with weather warnings to stay inside to avoid frost bite. I keep telling myself the Summers are worth it! I am posting this picture to remind myself why I love the Summers here, I love them more than this horrible cold.

I made this delicious Crunchy and Cheesy Macaroni and Cheese last night and it was so good. It was even better today warmed up for lunch at work. I served it with steamed broccoli and it they were the best combination together. This is a family favorite we make and love.

Ingredients

1 small bag of macaroni noodles cooked and drained
6 Tablespoons of cold butter
4 T of flour
1 pint of half and half
1 teaspoon of minced garlic
salt and pepper to taste
4 to 5 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 to 2 cups of crushed corn flakes

Directions

Cook and drain your noodles. In a medium saucepan melt the butter and then add in the flour and mix together well and stir until bubbly. Pour in the half and half, add minced garlic and add in 2/12 cups of cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook and stir until cheese has completely melted and is creamy. Put your cooked noodles in a baking dish and pour the sauce on top. Using a fork poke the sauce down into the noodles. Top with lots of shredded cheese and then top with crushed corn flakes. Pour 2 T of melted butter over the corn flakes. Top with salt and pepper. Cook at 375 until hot, bubbly and brown on the edges.

Serve with steamed vegetables.

Skillet Garlic Shrimp Linguine

 Garlic Shrimp with Linguine

I keep saying that you don't need to go out to an expensive restaurant to get a really delicious meal. I bought a large bag of shrimp and it fed 6 of us for $13.98 for the shrimp and $1.98 for noodles, serve with bread and butter. I absolutely love shrimp and this is a really delicious recipe, easy to make and a family favorite. I end up making the whole bag for our family and there is never any shrimp left in the end. One of my favorites. Me and the girls work together peeling the shrimp, they always ask to help. You can adjust everything to your taste, pour the buttery sauce over the shrimp and noodles! You could even serve it with a Pan Seared Steak

Ingredients

24 large uncooked frozen shrimp, peeled and deveined
salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
3 t. of minced garlic
2 tbsp cold butter
desired amount of dried parsley flakes
1/2 lemon, juice or  1 T. of lemon juice

Directions

Make sure the shrimp are very well thawed and drained (I get the excess water off with a paper towel). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Place a large skillet on high heat, and add the olive oil. When the oil is very hot then add the shrimp and sauté on high heat for 2 minutes, or until the shrimp are about halfway cooked. Add the minced garlic, and sauté for 1  more minute. Add the cold butter, reduce heat to medium, and cook for another minute, or until the shrimp are cooked. Turn off the heat and stir in the parsley and lemon. Serve immediately.
