Spark Naturals RELIEF Headache Blend

Spark Naturals RELIEF Headache Blend

Most of us get a headache at one time or another. They are a real pain in the neck to deal with. Literally!

Since I am a blogger and spend lots of time on the computer I get lots of tension headaches. It used to be common for me to pop a couple of pills to take the headaches away. Now I go for the more natural approach by using Essential Oils for everything!  So many people struggle with this daily and if you are anything like me we simply just don't have time for a headache!

Instead of taking pills all the time I decided to create a Headache Buster Blend. This is a wonderful blend that relieves the headaches in our family. If you see me post it then you know that I have had a personal experience with it and it worked for me. When that happens I will always share it with you.  I rub this on my temples, top of forehead, brain stem and back of neck depending on what type of headache I have. The pressure in my head starts to relax. These are amazing oils.

If you have been following my blog you will know that my husband has been
unable to work due to a work injury. He is in a great deal of pain in his neck, head and back. I used this blend on the back of his neck and it gives him a quick relief.

When you first feel the symptoms coming on grab this blend! Keep it with you at all times so you are prepared when it hits.

*Wintergreen and Birch should not be used if you are allergic to aspirin. *Caution: People with epilepsy should avoid Birch Essential Oil because it has high concentration of methyl salicylate. This oil should also be avoided by during pregnancy. Test a small sample on your skin before using this oil topically.
Testimonial from JILLEE at One Good Thing By Jillee

"Headache blend = MIRACLE!!!
Had a nasty headache all day. Took Excedrin, tried Lavender and Peppermint. Nothing worked. Today was awful! I was getting sick to my stomach from all the Excedrin then I noticed the bottle of the Headache Buster on my desk you left and tried it. I'm at Walmart now no headache. Amazing
Thank you!!" - Jillee

  9. I am always dealing with allergy headaches and migraines everyday. For the migraines I take Excedrin Migraine several times a day just to stay on top of it. I am also a licensed massage therapist. I do trigger point therapy everyday to help with the migraine symptoms. For my allergy headaches I have started taking the lavender, lemon and peppermint everyday to help with the allergy and sinus headaches. Would love to win one to left my family try it to help with their headaches as well. :)

    1. Remember: what I say here does not discount our use of essential oils. We use them often.
My daughter had horrible headaches for 6 years. We visited 5 different chiropractors in our region. We finally found one right here in our own small town that has been able to do something none other has done. She is now down from a headache EVERYDAY OF HER LIFE, to maybe one a week. That's a huge improvement. So, just a note: We LOVE our eos, but we also know that the blend of our eos and chiropractor care was the answer to our prayers. http://www.inmotionhealing.com/

    2. Dear Dori and Gowans, I'm glad you have found relief for your daughter. I thought to share my experiences in case someone else reads your comments because they, too, have a child with extreme headaches. Since not everything works for everybody and we parents are sometimes at our wits end, another shared experience might end up helpful. We, too, suffered with our pre-teen having headaches 24/7. This was 2006-8 before I knew about oils. Always on a pain scale of between 2 and 5, everyday she would spike to 7-10+ several times a day. Her home schooling for the school year of 2007-8 was nothing more than reading 8 books and writing a one page report for me--she was too sick for anything else. Our beloved chiro sent us to an addition chiro. Pastors repeatedly prayed over her. We tried cranial sacral massage, theraputic massage, 2 different neurologists, MRI, CT, migraine meds, blood pressure meds (her bp was fine--it was spaghetti against the wall), hyrdrocodone, accupuncture, Canadian cough syrup with codeine, weeks of biofeedback training, ER administered Torodal (sp?), shoot, I even tried my cooking rum in her hot cocoa--I was willing to try ANYTHING! By the 3rd ER visit (this time to Children's Hospital in Seattle) she had been vomiting and little sleep for almost 2 weeks, precious little food, couldn't keep down water, was dehydrated and delirious. The head of Neurology appeared almost immediately, and before admitting her they had a total of 4 neurologists in her ER room. They kept her for a week being visited daily by internists, residents, shrinks, etc. Diagnosis? Chronic non-progressive headache without migraine. Because one doctor had had major long term success with a patient on a low dose of Amitriptyline (an antidepressant), he prescribed it for nothing more than raising her serotonin level. He asked if we'd tried food allergies and when we said no he replied with "GOOD! It wouldn't have worked." But the amitriptyline WORKED! What an amazing difference! Within a year she had weaned off it and hasn't had a headache since. I know so many people want to use more natural methods than pharmaceuticals, but in our case it came down to that. So to any others reading who have tried everything, perhaps this our experiences are another avenue to check out.

I spend up to a week in bed 10-15 times a year. I've tried everything from massage therapy to counseling. I am currently visiting a Pain Specialist every month & they are trying to convince me surgery is my best option. They won't consider alternative medicne I've already had facial reconstruction surgery & 2 back surgeries a year for almost 6 years. I want to try organic or homeopathic remedies/options. I would love to try this & go back to my top dollar "Specialist" & report that he was wrong doctors& I do not need his experimental procedures & I won't be a guinea pig any longer.

  60. I made this blend for my mom today. She's been having terrible headaches, as she's had shingles the last few weeks and is to the point now where she mainly just has nerve pain (which is horrible in and of itself). Thing is, the shingles were all on her face, so you can imagine the pain.

Anyway, I didn't have any birch, so I just added 10 more drops of wintergreen, as suggested above, and I mixed it in a 5 ml roller bottle.

She texted me this evening after she'd used it. Her headache had come back, and she found the bottle, rolled some on her temple, behind her ear, and on the back of her neck. And the headache was GONE. Just like that.

I've also passed along this particular post to some mom friends of mine who I know suffer from headaches. I have to wonder - would it be safe on children? A girl who was in my son's class at his old school (she'd be 9 now) was suffering from really bad headaches (or maybe migraines).

I'm so excited, I'm going to mix a batch up for us here at home come morning...well, later on this morning after I go to sleep and then get up for the day. Thank you for yet another awesome post!! :)

  70. OH my word......As I am learning more about essential oils and the proper dilution of these oils, I have real concerns about this blend. Even at a 25% dilution (which is a dilution that is only occasionally warranted), your blend waaaay exceeds that limit. A 25% dilution would be 25 drops per tsp (5ml) of carrier oil or 125-150 drops per ounce (30ml). Your blend calls for 90 drops which fills up a 10ml roller bottle almost half way and then there is room for 5ml of carrier oil. So that is 90 drops per 5ml of carrier oil.

  72. My go to headache blend is Lavender and Copiabia (& a carrier oil) and it works miracles. Sometimes I miss the trigger until I see the halo or flashes at the edge of my vision. I apply temples, back of neck/head & center of forehead from hairline to above the eyebrows and they fade. Before essential oils, I found licking potato chips (yup I needed electrolytes) and an ice cold Coke. Now after my headache is gone I may follow up with a glass of gatorade 2 or powerade zero. I tried the electrolyte water -did nothing however found Pedialyte pops in the summertime helped. So nice not to be hugging the porcelain goddess, selling cars (buuuick) and wanting to fade from existence. Thanks for the recipe will try it next.

  80. Frequent headaches affect a person’s mood and overall health. Not all headaches are related to severe illnesses. Primary headaches result due to changes in eating and sleeping patterns, dehydration, or increased screen time. In primary headache, the headache itself is the problem instead of an underlying issue or disease.
